With this update, medication management in ION Smart Care has been further optimized.
Mandatory careINDEX link for new medications
When adding new medications that are not in the home medication list, linking them to the careINDEX medication catalog is now mandatory.
What does this mean in practice?
• New medications must be assigned to an entry in the careINDEX catalog.
• This ensures a standardized and consistent data basis.
• Duplicate entries and inconsistent medication names are reduced.
• Patient safety and documentation quality are further improved.
Exception:
Only administrators can record medications without a careINDEX link in justified cases.
This improvement strengthens data quality, increases transparency, and supports safe medication management.
