Dear Users,
We’re excited to announce the latest update, released on August 24, 2025! This update brings significant improvements to enhance your experience, including a more integrated approach for adding Medications, efficient Personal Effects List, advanced Dashboard, End of Life Documentation and Observation Phase Planning.
Here’s a summary of what’s new:
Medication Management with careINDEX IntegrationWe’ve significantly enhanced Medication Management for customers with an active careINDEX subscription:
Medications from the careINDEX list can now be added directly to a resident’s fixed or reserve medications, and these will automatically appear on the House List.
Optionally, medications from careINDEX can be added directly to the House List without assigning them to an individual resident.
If a medication from careINDEX is already on the House List, it is clearly marked as Already on the House List, preventing duplicates.
When adding a new medication for a resident, the medication name dropdown shows a link (paperclip) icon. This indicates that the medication is linked to careINDEX, giving easy access to:

Prescription Sheet for Palliative Care and End-of-Life SituationsA new form has been introduced to support palliative care and end-of-life situations. It is available under: Resident → Medications → Palliative & EoL Orders
Covers key areas of symptom management, including pain, breathlessness, rattling breath, nausea/vomiting, constipation, and anxiety/restlessness.
For each category, caregivers can record the prescribed medication, dosage, frequency, and maximum daily limits.
Flexible options for different administration routes.
Provides a clear and structured overview to ensure symptom relief remains the primary focus.
Observation PhasesWe’ve streamlined the management of Observation Phases to make planning and monitoring easier:
Simplified Setup: When starting an Observation Phase, you only need to enter a start date (which can also be set in the future). The plan is then created automatically.
Resident List Indicators: The Residents List now shows if a resident is currently in an Observation Phase or if an Observation Phase is scheduled to begin in the future. The status updates automatically once the start date is reached.
Caregiver Notifications: Caregivers from the respective departments receive reminder notifications before the start of an Observation Phase.

Dashboard EnhancementsWe’ve improved the Dashboard experience for all users:
Previously: Dashboard tiles only displayed statistics without the ability to take direct action.
Now: Each tile is clickable, allowing users to quickly navigate to detailed information and follow up directly from the Dashboard.
Additional Information Available: The Dashboard tiles now also display important context, including Excretions, Current and Planned Observation Phase Dates, and Upcoming Evaluations.
Personal Items ListWe’ve enhanced the Personal Items List functionality, accessible via: Resident → Profile → Personal Items List.
Categorization by Time Period: Items can now be grouped by when they were brought in:
At the initial entry into the care home
After entry into the care home
Taken out and brought back during external transfers
Other situations as applicable
Signature Integration: We’ve integrated the signature module, allowing residents to digitally sign for items when they are brought in or taken out (e.g., during external transfers).
Automatic User Provisioning with Microsoft Entra IDWith this release, we’ve introduced automatic synchronization of new user accounts from Microsoft Entra ID into our platform.
When a new user is created in Microsoft Entra ID, the account is automatically provisioned in Edelion.
This reduces manual effort for administrators, speeds up user onboarding, and minimizes the risk of errors.
Archiving Resident RecordsWe’ve improved the way resident records can be archived, ensuring better data quality and consistency.
Previously: A resident record could be archived regardless of status (active, inactive, deceased). This sometimes meant that records of residents with active status had no exit date, leading to incomplete records.
Now: To archive a resident record, an exit date is mandatory. This ensures that every archived record has both an entry and an exit date.
Improved Search FunctionWe’ve enhanced the search function located at the top of the application.
Previously: Search was only possible by resident name.
Now: You can also search by department or room number.
Export of Medical InformationIt is now possible to export a resident’s medical information as a PDF file. This includes:
Diagnoses
Allergies
Vaccinations
Diabetes Protocol AdjustmentWe have made an important adjustment to the Diabetes Protocol based on your feedback:
Previously: The Blood Sugar Measurement fields were always mandatory when recording insulin administration.
Now: Blood sugar measurement is not required when administering Long-acting Insulin. Therefore the blood sugar measurement fields are now optional.
UI Improvements and New Evaluation on AssessmentsWe have made several user interface improvements and added new evaluation features to support better usability and clinical insights:
Assessments Overview Table: Optimized for a clearer display of the outcomes.
Mini Mental Status (MMS) / Uhrentest (UT): In addition to UI improvements, these assessments now include an automatic evaluation based on scoring, helping caregivers interpret results more efficiently.
Geriatrische Depressionsskala (GDS) and Cornell Depressionsskala (CDS): Refined layouts for easier completion and review.
General Notes in Vitals SectionA new enhancement has been added to the Vitals section:
By clicking the info icon, caregivers can now create a general note.
Once added, the note becomes visible directly on the overview screen, ensuring important context is easily accessible alongside vital sign measurements.
New Reminder NotificationsWe’ve added new reminder notifications to support timely actions and improved care quality:
Evaluation of Individual Care Plans
Patient Living Will
Freedom Restricting Measures
Upcoming Observation Phase
New Menu Plan LayoutWe have introduced a new Menu Plan Layout in the Gastro App that supports two lunch menus and one dinner menu per day.
